Literary memoir
I write under the name AllVlad. My first book, When the Kaleidoscope Stops, is a memoir that runs from a childhood in Bucharest to a life in Hanoi — and it is here to read now, in Romanian and in English.
A life told the way memory actually returns it: out of order, in fragments, each piece meaningless until it is set beside the right one. The book gathers those pieces — a father, a sister, a country left behind, a bakery in Hanoi named after someone who is gone — and turns them slowly, until the pattern holds still long enough to be seen.
It is a book about the distance between being close to people and being known by them, and about what happens when you finally stop hiding inside your own story.
